A True Blessing for Our Family!
"We are not members of St. Mary/St. Michael parish and actually attend a local non-denominational Christian church, but having our children in a Christian School has been a high priority and value for us; SMSM has been a true blessing to our family.
The teachers care about our childrens’ social, emotional, and obvious academic needs. The small class sizes allow for a tremendous amount of individualized focus and extra assistance in learning with a flexible curriculum, whether a child has learning challenges or needs to be encouraged to go at a faster pace. The homemade, nutritious school lunch program is incredible, with salad, fresh veggies and fruit on a daily basis.
But perhaps the greatest blessing is the daily prayer, character building, and religious education and focus on God in the students’ daily lives. The Word of God sewn into them will reap great rewards for a lifetime.
So in conclusion, we are extremely blessed and thankful to God for the outstanding blessing that SMSM is to our family and we highly recommend this fabulous school.”
The teachers are phenomenal!
“My son attended preschool at St. Mary/St. Michael School last year and is now in Kindergarten here. My husband and I did not initially intend to send him to a private school. However, after being there for a year and seeing what a wonderful school it is, we decided to keep him here. We are so glad we did. He gets the individual attention he needs and is learning things I would never imagine he would be doing in Kindergarten already. The teachers and staff are phenomenal. It is very apparent that this is their calling and life’s work. This school is like one big family; Everyone from the staff to the students to the parents know my son and look out for him. I know that he is getting a first-rate education while his emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing are also being cultivated and cared for."
Why St. Mary/St. Michael School?
"Well, the 'Sunday school answer' is- because of Jesus! Yes, that was a part of our decision in choosing this school. To have my children be able to freely talk about, learn about and share Christ’s love, outside of our home. But more importantly it was out of obedience to God. Let me explain: My husband and I both believe that God blessed us with five beautiful children and gave us the direction to love them and raise them in a Christian home and to make decisions on their behalf to make them better adults."
Education is one of the keys
"After a wonderful pre-school experience with our youngest daughter at St. Mary/St. Michael School, we were considering her staying only through kindergarten. However, God had different plans. Last March, our second youngest daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia. She had been struggling in the public schools since kindergarten. We had asked for her to be tested for learning disabilities so that she could get the extra help she needed and didn’t fall further behind. She 'passed the test', meaning- she didn’t qualify for help. So being a classroom of twenty-three second graders left her no chance to succeed since her teacher had to attend to a large classroom. We hired a private tutor to help her find different ways to learn. Praise God! After only a short time, it was helping! However, the public school would not accommodate having this tutor in the classroom. We quickly learned through discussions with the St. Mary/St. Michael staff that this tutor would be allowed to come into the classroom and work directly with the students who needed help."
"God began to show us the blessings of St. Mary/St. Michael School- small classroom sizes, teachers willing to teach students where they are at academically, and the opportunity to work one-on-one.
We were going to be obedient and follow what God had revealed to us.
"Our decision was to not only send our youngest to kindergarten at St. Mary/St. Michael’s, but our 2nd and 3rd graders would also be attending."
"How has obedience helped our family? Let me share my three children’s 'Thanksgiving Day Gratitudes'. My 3rdgrader, who never had much he liked about school, aaid: “I am thankful for my school”. My 2nd grader, who struggled in school, said: “I am thankful for homework”. My kindergartner, “I am thankful for my teacher”. Talk about bringing a mom to tears. We have had the best school year we have had in 10 years! Why? Because my kids love this school, they love their teachers, and have made great friends."
So, Why St. Mary/St. Michael?
"Because not only are my children learning about the love of Jesus- They are seeing it lived out on a daily basis through the love their teachers have for them and their classmates! My husband and I are thrilled with St. Mary/St. Michael School not only because our two children are excelling academically, but spiritually! This holiday season we were decorating cut out cookies. Our six year old stated she was going to make “Jesus on a crucifix” for the cut out crosses. I let the conversation between our two daughters take place while I pondered how this could be created by a six year old. Sure enough, my nine year old spoke up and corrected my six year old stating “This is the wrong holiday season…that would be for Easter!” This affirms to my husband me that we are proud of our girls, and very proud of their academic and spiritual education! Side note: In case you are wondering if the cookie was made… here is a demonstration of the creativity enriched by their schooling. Our six year old made it without hesitation or thought. She used two chocolate chips, one for the head and one for the body. Then she used four sprinkles for the arms and the legs. Thank you, St. Mary/St. Michael School, and keep up with your excellent work!"
